Many companies now offer customer service via chat, text and email. Unlike straightforward online data entry jobs, a customer service rep is expected to interact with consumers and help to resolve their problems. This can sometimes be difficult if you are dealing with an extremely frustrated or angry consumer. Still, many home-based reps do enjoy their interactions with consumers and appreciate the challenge of being able to resolve their issues.
Hello Alexa, I have read your list and am very interested. I am a single mother of two little ones, and I would like to start up an online job from home, until I can get further on my career path offline. I have no idea where to begin and would appreciate so ideal tips on what and where to get started to make a decent living for my kids as well as myself, I would greatly appreciate it thank you for your time.
But don't make the mistake of thinking this will be a passive source of income—you're on call whenever you have a guest and you'll always need to keep the place clean for incoming visitors. On top of just renting on Airbnb, consider offering your guests paid add-ons, like Lauren Gheysens', Royal Day Out in London, England—where she gives visitors a local's only tour of the city, complete with bespoke 18th century costumes.

How do I get started? To become an Interior Decorator (this is different from Interior Designer) I recommend starting a website, take quality photos of your work, ask friends and family if you can work for them at no charge to help add to your portfolio, once you’ve created a polished visualization of your work you can then start to charge for your service.
“Join my team” pitches – There are plenty of real ways to be your own boss and work for yourself. Unfortunately, these opportunities are often drowned out by the “join my team” pitches common at multi-level marketing jobs (MLMs). While not necessarily a scam in all cases, many of these companies require you to buy product, which means you’ll end up spending far more money than you’ll ever earn. If there is more money to be made by recruiting others to join your team than there is than by actually selling the product, it’s probably an MLM and best to just stay away.
I have been working for the State for 20 years and looking for some other solution to be more at home with my kids who are 1 & 2 years of age. I was first looking into Medical Coding & Billing but also Vitural Assistant. Don’t know much about either options though MC&B you have to get certified to be hired. Don’t know if working from home is possible at the start ? Then with Vitural Assistant, how would I even get started with that and what would I need to do? Anything you can help me with would be greatly appreciated.
I am a distributor with It Works. Started my journey in April to supplement my WAHM income as a staff recruiter for occupational, physical and speech therapist. I have a soon to be 2 year old and my husband and I realized it actually cost us more for me to work outside the home, and I was fortunate enough to be able to work out a situation with my employer to allow me to do my job from home. I have a sitter that helps from time to time to allow me time to meet deadlines, meetings, jobfairs. I schedule wrap appointments and parties when my husband is home. This also also allows me to have a positive work life balance for myself and gives our child a chance to have a mom at home but to still be able to have someone to give her undivided attention when I have work priorities. So far it is a win win for us.
I freelance a bit, along with doing some VA (virtual assistant) work for other bloggers. I also earn a bit with sponsored posts, affiliate sales, and advertising on my blog. I have also self-published a book, Intentional Marriage, and create printables which I sell in my shop. – Crystal at Serving Joyfully (Shannon here! Crystal is one of several VAs that I work with to help me with the blog. She is an absolute wiz with graphics and is responsible for many of the pretty images you see here on Affording Motherhood.)
How to Get It:If you shot the video with your phone, open the YouTube app and hit "send." If you're uploading from a computer, visit YouTube, and click the "upload" button in the upper right corner of the screen. You'll see a place to drag your video file. To enroll in the partner program, click on YouTube settings, check the circle next to "Allow Advertisements," then click on "View Additional Features." On the YouTube monetization page, opt in. Generally, you must earn a minimum before you get paid, and YouTube pays monthly—if you don't earn enough in one month, the balance rolls over.
This is a great and comprehensive article, but the website/search engine evaluating jobs and the transcriber jobs I checked out that I think I’d be a good fit for require 3-5 years of experience each, and as a college student, I don’t have that. Are there any decent paying (50-200 dollars a month) jobs that don’t require experience in the job field yet?
Fay — I have a few posts up that list ways to get fast cash, but if you’re looking for bill money, those might not help much because the things I listed there are mostly good for gas money, pizza money, etc. Just a little extra. I know that with the phone positions there’s often a few weeks or more worth of wait time while you’re getting a background check done, training, and so forth. The sales positions (things like Helios, which has actually received negative feedback lately from some of my readers) could probably have you up and working and making money quickly. I do have a post on this blog covering Helios. But not everyone likes sales, so that may not be the route you’d want to take.
This is a successful work at home program with unlimited potential. We'll show you EXACTLY what you need to do to make money posting ads for companies online. It runs virtually on autopilot. Once your ads are submitted, they can be making money for you over and over. In other words, you don't have to be sitting in front of your computer all day just to make money. You can go play golf with your friends or go shopping at the mall with your family. It's totally up to you. That's the beauty of this system.
Ready to enter the ecommerce fray? Why not sell your own stuff. Of course, along with selling your own stuff on your own website comes a whole slew of both responsibilities and technical configuration and requirements. For starters, you'll need a website and a hosting account. You'll also need a merchant account (sure you can use Stripe or PayPal). Then you'll need to design that site, build a sales funnel, create a lead magnet and do some email marketing.
How to Get It: Customer service is the biggest work-at-home field, with companies including Spiegel, Hilton, Best Western, HSN, 1-800-FLOWERS and many others using at-home reps. Fill out an application with staffing companies such as Arise, Alpine Access, VIPdesk, LiveOps, and Convergys, all of which vet the companies who are hiring through them. If you need benefits, search through a staffing company that will hire you as an employee (Alpine Access, VIPdesk and Convergys do this) rather than an independent contractor. If you're a contractor, you may be asked to pay a small fee (between $15 and $35) for a background check. While a fee can be a sign of a scam, independent contractors are responsible for their own expenses.
I was wanting to get my Photography off the ground but am worried that it is a useless effort. I guess I just needed an outsiders help/viewpoint… Does anyone have tips to get over this? I don’t exactly know what I am looking for as an answer, so anything would be perfect… I don’t want to work too closely with people because I feel like I just make a mess of that and say the wrong thing often. I think Data entry would be good? I just need help and I don’t know where to look/ask.
FlexJobs, the Boulder-based remote-friendly career postings site, is cutting through the complexity of this question. Each year, they compile a list of the top 100 companies hiring remote workers. This year, though, they’ve created a special list of all the companies who have made their top 100 lists for each of the past five years. While many companies require you to clock in and out each day, the employers on this list don’t care whether you do your work from Santorini or Shanghai.
