THERE ARE MANY REASONS you might be looking to work from home. Maybe you have young kids, and you want to work while keeping an eye on them. Maybe you've always dreamed of running your own company and starting an online business at home is the way to get there. Maybe you have a spouse who is your household's primary breadwinner and you just need a little extra cash. Or maybe you need a lot of extra cash to kill off some debt with a side gig.
When I began looking for work-at-home jobs, I had no clue what I wanted to do, I just knew that I needed something part-time and flexible. My plan was to work in the afternoons when my daughter was napping, which gave me two-three hours of uninterrupted work time. Luckily, through my networking efforts, I was able to land a freelance marketing gig that allowed me to work a few hours each day while my daughter snoozed in the afternoons.
Yet there are plenty of companies you’ve probably never heard of, too. Appen, which tops the list, develops high-quality training data for machine learning and artificial intelligence; not surprisingly, they’re hiring web search evaluators and a slew of linguists in lesser known languages like Sudanese Arabic and Xhosa. BCD Travel, the Dutch managed travel provider, is hiring remotely for their customer service, business development and travel consultant roles. Three universities—Grand Canyon, Western Governors and Walden—make the list as well. To say there’s an abundance of work from home jobs available out there would be an understatement. For most people, there are more than they could ever imagine.

This has become a popular business model for online entrepreneurs over the past several years, and will probably just continue to grow in popularity. The best thing about selling online courses is that once you do the up-front work in creating the course and setting up your marketing strategy, you can get paid over and over again for work you do once.

In addition to blogging, I write ebooks which is by far where most of my online income comes from. I also pick up a friend’s sons from school each day and they hang out with us until she gets off of work. It’s a blessing to both our families. My ebook, Hope – Thriving While Unemployed, has quite a few self employment ideas. – Angi Schneider at Schneider Peeps

How to Get It: Visit companies such as DarwinsData.com, PineconeResearch.com and PaidViewpoint.com. (Search "surveys" on RealWaystoEarnMoneyOnline.com for more options.) Then sign up with as many sites as you can. The sites will contact you when surveys that fit your demographic pop up, and you take them right away. A word to the wise: Do not register anywhere that has a membership fee, asks for your Social Security number or bank information, or is vague about payment.
Be sure that the employer provides you with a written contract that states how much money you'll be making along with your job responsibilities. Before signing anything, make sure that you understand what is expected of you. Ask questions and note the kind of response you get. If a company representative is vague, dismissive or becomes hostile, turn down the offer and find something else.
My name is Jamie Spencer and I have spent the past 5 years building money making blogs. After growing tired of the 9-5, commuting and never seeing my family I decided that I wanted to make some changes and launched my first blog. Since then I have launched lots of successful niche blogs and after selling my survivalist blog I decided to teach other people how to do the same.
Almost every big business has gotten on the social media bandwagon as a means to reach their customers directly, and without paying heavily for television, print, or radio ads. But not every big business has someone to manage their social media accounts, which is why more individuals have begun marketing themselves as social media managers and helping businesses grow their online following and expand their reach.
I am a stay at home mom and I love this list. Mommas need to encourage each other. It’s a tough world we live in! I run my own blog over at iamcapturingthemoment.com and make income off of that. Not a lot, but a little. Im also a Pampered Chef consultant (if you don’t know what that is, feel free to contact me!), and I hand see children blankets and other fun items with my mom in our business called Bumblebees and Butterflies. I earn enough to help with bills and to buy extra goodies for my two daughters. :)
Hi Patrick, thanks for the comment. You can start by looking in to some opportunities listed on this post. Then, you may want to set up a professional website for yourself to market your services. If you have experience in a particular field, you can start yourself to potential clients. If you don’t have any experience, you may want to do a few jobs for free to build up enough experience to improve your chances of getting hired. Good luck!

I have been on short term disability for almost a year and it is going to be ending. I have no idea what I’m going to do, or how I will be able to pay my bills. I need a way to support myself by working at home without any of the scams or gimmicks. If there is anyone out there that could help me or knows of something, PLEASE let me know.

Keep in mind though, you don’t need a website to do sponsored content since you can also get paid if you have a lot of social media followers. My wife has a pretty big Instagram following, and she gets all kinds of sponsorships. Not only does she get paid in cash, but we get a lot of free stuff, too. We’ve received free rugs, free lights, and free carpet cleaners. She only promotes things she loves though, so this strategy works really well for her. /injects>
