According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor, approximately 21% of employees work from home on an average day. I’m sure a significant proportion of these people are mothers who are taking care of their children simultaneously. It can be hard to juggle so many responsibilities, but the key to making it work is finding a job with the perfect fit – one that has built-in flexibility, reasonable compensation and engages all of your greatest strengths.
If you are more confident in your skills, you can also market directly to websites and blogs. You can contact the sites by email to market your services. That will also enable you to select the specific types of sites that you are more comfortable working with. Since there are literally thousands of websites and blogs on the web, the potential market is limitless.
That is so wonderful TaMarra. Congratulations! As a mom of young kids, I would love to learn about how to disciple my kids from an experienced mom. I would recommend checking out Kindle Direct Publishing or Create Space. Both are through Amazon and allow you to list your book directly on Amazon either in print or for Kindle. That’s a great place to start. Also, starting a blog is a great way to connect with potential readers that might be interested in your book.

In addition, Tutor.com has about 3,600 teachers on contract and a waiting list of thousands. Jennifer Kohn, former spokeswoman for Tutor.com, says tutors teach students of all ages and levels. Recent graduates, and even those still in college, are a good tutoring fit as long as they pass the application process. It also offers those who are retired a great way to supplement their retirement income while giving those taking a break from the real classroom a way to still earn income.

You may decide to create free videos as extra content for your blog, and not sell them at all. If this is the case then you can still make money from these videos by selling advertising space on them (in the same way as discussed for monetizing podcasts). Once you have high volumes of traffic visiting your blog, and watching your videos, you can charge businesses to advertise at the beginning of your videos. Use website’s like Izea to help you connect with companies willing to pay to advertise on your blog.

I appreciate the idea behind this, but I’d like more information on where these jobs can be found. I am a writer and would like to do freelance writing work, but while you mentioned that there are such jobs available, there wasn’t much to say where to find those jobs. I’ve tried to seek them out before, and done writing for places where I got paid (usually not very well), but many of those have dried up or weren’t much to begin with. Are there suggested places to go to do some freelance writing? I’d love to ditch my poorly-paying job, where I have to spend a lot of time away from my family, and do something I actually enjoy doing. Thanks.

I work from home doing customer service. I contract with a company named LiveOps and they offer opportunities to certify with a variety of clients. I currently take calls for Pizza Hut and it is pretty easy and enjoyable, once I got the hang of using the computer software. Most days, I average around $12 per hour, and I don’t have to commute anywhere or pay for childcare. I just schedule work hours when my husband is home to watch our 3 kids.
Like talking to people and helping walk them through problems? You can bring in extra income as a contract customer support superstar for companies all over the world. Due to the 24/7 nature of online businesses, companies are looking for people in different time zones to help deal with issues that their users are having. Better yet, if you have experience in service or retail you’ll be perfectly suited. Check out indeed or the other remote job boards I listed earlier to find opportunities.
