This is a great and comprehensive article, but the website/search engine evaluating jobs and the transcriber jobs I checked out that I think I’d be a good fit for require 3-5 years of experience each, and as a college student, I don’t have that. Are there any decent paying (50-200 dollars a month) jobs that don’t require experience in the job field yet?

My eBook The Bootstrap VA and my Facebook group is full of women pursuing VA (virtual assistant) work so they can be home with their kids. – Lisa Morosky at The Bootstrap VA (Lisa did some VA work for me last summer as I was getting ready to launch my Natural Birth Stories book. I love that she is empowering other moms to find jobs as VAs so they can stay at home too!)
The workings behind a job are relatively simple, although detail-oriented. A mystery shopper works as an independent contractor reporting back to a company on various areas and experiences in the store. Depending on how tough and time-consuming the job is, payment ranges from $5 to $160, Denston says. And with some assignments, shoppers don’t even need to leave home, making phone calls to businesses to check out their customer service.

When I started to work from home, I missed talking to people. A lot. But I soon found a friend. Every day, I would hear the UPS guy gunning his motor as he drove down my long driveway to deliver my packages. As soon as I would spot him, I’d fly out of the house and chat him up. And now he leaves the packages by the curb. Sure, the one big bonus of working from home is that it gets you away from the petty office politics and never-ending gossip.
Provide excellent customer service. Answer any questions buyers post as quickly as possible. Be professional and courteous. Positive communication builds your reputation with buyers and gets you return business. Also, package your product well and ship it out quickly. Allowing an item to become damaged or taking too long to ship can negatively affect your reputation among buyers. Wrap all items, especially fragile ones, in appropriate packaging. Commit to shipping items as soon as you receive payment.
I worked as a nurse for 10 years but had to quit to stay home with my now 2 year old twins when they were 7 months old. My daughter had a seizure and it didn’t make sense to stay. I am glad there is a list like this. I stayed home and just spend time with my babies most of the last year and a half but recently in May started with Origami Owl as a way to have fun and spend time with other female adults. Later I joined Plexus just to get the discount myself and I have been doing amazing both in my wellness journey & making quite a bit of money off of it also. I am hoping to make it into a full time income before my kids go to kindergarten so when they go to school I don’t have to go back to work. I just don’t want to send them to daycare during the summers so unless I find a job as a school nurse I plan to stay home. Life is too short & they stay little for too short of a time to send them to daycare for someone else to raise them for me.
Many people fancy themselves as designers. If you have a unique idea for a new product then it may be time to get it designed. This can be a long process involving prototypes, discussions with factories, package design, and much more. However, the profits once the product is on the market could be substantial. And remember, with Amazon FBA, your products can all be stored and shipped by Amazon, giving you time to think up your next invention.
Just ordered this book, Blogging for Profit without Selling Your Soul. Hope to get some great info and tips for starting a blog. I quit my job a couple of years ago to start an art business. I love to paint. It’s not as lucrative as I want it to be so I’m looking to make some additional income doing something I love (at home). Thanks for all the great ideas everyone has posted. I’m taking very good notes!
Once you have that problem or need nailed, the next step is to validate that idea and make sure you’ve actually got customers who will pay for it. This means building a minimum viable product, getting objective feedback from real customers, incorporating updates, testing the market for demand, and getting pricing feedback to ensure there’s enough of a margin between your costs and what consumers are willing to pay.
A niche affiliate site often presents like an eCommerce store. To get started with an affiliate site, choose your niche then display products with pictures, descriptions, and prices, just as you would on an online store. However, when visitors click the ‘buy’ button, they will be taken directly to Amazon, to make the purchase. You then make an affiliate fee for sending the traffic to Amazon, but have none of the packaging hassle, or initial financial output creating or buying the products.
I just wanted to let you know that I have been hired by Maritz (Thank you Annie) and working with them for almost 30 days now (perfect attendance gets you a $.25 raise after 30 days too). The company has us calling customers from different businesses (banks, insurance co. etc..) and asking them to please complete a survey of how their customer service experience was between 1 (poor) and 10 (excellent). They pay you the minimum wage of your state weekly by direct deposit and pay on time. The staff is great and helpful and they make the job easy and enjoyable. Thanks again Annie and bless you for all your great and helpful information that you share with us.
As a TTEC@Home associate, you'll use our technology to support and assist customers with a variety of customer service and technical needs. This could include helping customers over the phone, via chat, or on social media. Best of all, you can do it all while wearing your slippers or flip flops! (To get started, you’ll need internet access and a home phone. Bunny slippers are optional.)
There's always eBay. Sure, it probably won't be permanent, unless you set up a business on eBay, but while you're looking for work-from-home jobs, you could be earning money by selling the junk (er, nice stuff that you have) around your home that you no longer want. Chances are, you have gently worn clothing or perhaps gifts that you didn't want and never got around to regifting or antiques that you've stored in the basement. You could put them up for sale on eBay.
I thought about having an in home before/after school care, but our state apparently has new laws about lead pipes/ paint, etc and all homes that were built before 1978 would have to be inspected. Our home was built in 1940 and I could not afford that inspection. So, that idea went down the commode. I was blessed with a daycare position for the summer that allowed me to bring my children for free and that was huge! Now I am substitute teaching and would love to be home full time again. ( my dh was incarcerated for a year and is ready to come home and make a new start-please pray that the Probation officer allows him to take a job that he has been offered already).
Need more ideas on how to make money online? Another strategy is using webinars to market your product, service, or course. I’ve done webinars to promote my financial planning practice and to drum up interest in my online course for financial advisors. With a webinar, you’re basically offering a lot of tips and advice for free — usually in a live format. At the end though, you pitch your paid product or service with the goal of securing a few deals.
By reading some of my favorite blogs, I’ve seen them post jobs for VAs (virtual assistants). I replied to one, which led to getting a job with her. That job led me to connect with a couple of other bloggers. She now runs her own company with people working for her as VAs to give other SAHMs a chance to earn money for their families. – Rachel at Signed by Me
A site called User Testing will actually pay you a fee to evaluate websites. It typically pays you $10 for each video that you review – which typically takes about 20 minutes. If the work is there, and you are particularly good at it, you could earn up to $30 per hour. That’s a pretty solid pay rate for a work-at-home job. You wouldn’t have to work a whole lot of hours to generate a decent part-time monthly income.
Writing copy for websites is another great freelancing option for those who have a way with words. Copywriting can involve writing the text for websites, press releases, promotional offline materials including leaflets and brochures, and any other professional text for businesses. Writing copy can be better paid than blog writing. However, clients can be more fussy, as they want the highest quality writing for the forefront of their website or advertising campaigns. Many freelance writers offer both copywriting and blog writing amongst their services. This can be a good way to juggle regular but lower paid clients (blogging) with the higher paid but ad-hoc project based copy work.
Be sure that the employer provides you with a written contract that states how much money you'll be making along with your job responsibilities. Before signing anything, make sure that you understand what is expected of you. Ask questions and note the kind of response you get. If a company representative is vague, dismissive or becomes hostile, turn down the offer and find something else.
Work at home transferring data from one source to another. Most of these companies do not require past experience, although with few exceptions the pay may not be enough to consider it a stable income. Before you begin applying to any of the companies below (many of which sadly are almost never hiring), you might want to read the post I wrote about data entry jobs from home. It explains what your expectations should be prior to pursuing a career in this industry.
